Labiaplasty Beverly Hills – Labia Reduction, Genital Rejuvenation

Description

Labiaplasty, or aesthetic labia minora reduction, has become a more commonly requested procedure by female patients in Los Angeles. If a woman feels that her labia is enlarged or asymmetric, she may exhibit significant emotional symptoms, including embarrassment, anxiety, and loss of self-esteem. Enlarged labia minora can cause physical discomfort with tight fitting clothing, walking, exercise, and sexual intercourse. The literature suggests that multiple factors can contribute to labia minora enlargement. The most common factor is likely congenital, however stretching, early sexual activity, pregnancy, chronic irritation, and androgenic hormones have also been implicated.

Surgery

There are several different surgical techniques for labiaplasty. Dr. Dass researched the data available on labiaplasty and worked with a prominent plastic surgeon that developed a new technique for labia minora reduction and has adopted this technique. The scars are well hidden, sensation in the area is well preserved, and the final result is more aesthetically pleasing. We have found that the satisfaction from labia reduction surgery is greater than 90%. When considering labiaplasty surgery, have your surgeon explain where the scars will be, as this might affect your final decision for surgery.

Recovery

Labiaplasty surgery is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis in our Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery center. You will need to apply ice to the surgical site for about 2 days. Antibiotic ointment will need to be applied to the incisions twice daily for about 1 week. You will have to avoid strenuous activity and sexual intercourse for 6 weeks after surgery. The risks of surgery include bleeding, infection, delayed wound healing, and sensory changes of the surgical site.

If you are troubled by aesthetic dissatisfaction of your labia minora, discomfort in clothing, discomfort during exercise, or painful sexual intercourse, then you may be a candidate for labia reduction surgery.
