Liposuction Recovery

Recovery is usually relatively easy with liposuction, but it is important to follow post-operative guidelines. It is common to have some pain, swelling, discomfort, or bruising following the procedure.  

A compression garment or bandages will be provided to wrap around the treatment area to reduce swelling and help maintain the body’s new shape. You may also have drains placed to prevent fluid buildup that can slow the healing process. 

Pain medication will be provided to minimize discomfort and should be taken as prescribed. Patients will be instructed to limit certain activities. Most individuals can return to work within a couple of weeks, but individuals with physically demanding jobs may need to take off longer.  

By about four weeks out, almost all pain will have subsided, and the improvement in swelling will allow you to start seeing visible results. After week 6, most patients are back to normal activity levels and can see the full scope of their results.
